Streetlab is a platform for young creators of street art and fashion. Up-and-coming designers and artists have been exhibiting and performing their work at its events since 2005. These take place at venues like Amsterdam’s Imagine IC, Meneer de Wit and Rooms of Red Bull and during events such as the Wereld van Witte de With festival in Rotterdam and Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven.
The four-day Streetlab festival in 2007 at Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek drew more than 13,000 visitors. A second edition took place in Amsterdam’s Zuidoost district in 2008. There, Premsela and Streetlab held a week-long workshop for young designers taught by Dutch and foreign guest instructors. The ten participants collaborated on a collection, Made in Southeast.
Successful Streetlab events have taken place in Istanbul, New York and Russia.
