Angus Hyland

The British graphic designer Angus Hyland spoke with the critic Gert Staal on 15 September 2011 as part of our Pioneers of Industrial Culture interview series. Hyland is a partner at Pentagram in London and the winner of more than 100 international awards. Staal interviewed him before an audience at the Amstelkerk in Amsterdam.
Hyland studied information and editorial design at the London College of Printing and graphic design at the Royal College of Art in London. He ran his own studio for a decade before becoming a partner in Pentagram’s London office in 1998. Since then, he’s designed brand identities, printed materials, packaging and exhibitions for a broad range of clients. He handles the multinational paint and chemical company AkzoNobel’s corporate identity and ongoing brand management and has worked for Citibank, Grant Thornton, Nokia and Samsung.
