Designworld programme

By the end of the last century, Dutch design was a household word among the style-minded around the world. It might sound like a straightforward term for our national design culture. But in fact, Dutch design is an international movement.

Of course, work from the Netherlands serves as a source of inspiration for this movement. It manifests in the large number of foreign students who enrol on our design courses and the growing group of Dutch designers working for clients abroad.

Dutch design has given the Netherlands a distinctive image since 1993, when Droog Design held its first presentation in Milan. That image is one of a country where designers and ideas are given the space they need, professionals from different countries and cultures inspire each other, and design’s cultural and social value are at least as important as its economic value.

With the Designworld programme, Premsela seeks to expand the international orientation of Dutch design culture and strengthen the Netherlands’ position as a design country.
