Konstantin Grcic

The leading contemporary product designer Konstantin Grcic spoke with the art historian and publicist Gert Staal on 8 July 2011 in Amsterdam about the iconic status of his work, the use of technology in design, experimental designing, and his relationship to industry. The onstage interview was part of Premsela's Pioneers of Industrial Culture series.

Grcic trained as a furniture maker and studied design at London’s Royal College of Art. Since founding Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design in Munich, he’s created furniture, products and lighting for leading brands like Vitra, Magis, Plank and Established & Sons. His designs have won international awards and are found in the permanent collections of top museums around the world.

Grcic was the fifth guest in the interview series. Previous guests have included Michele De Lucchi and Wim Crouwel.
