Otis College students

Scott Burnham led students from Los Angeles's Otis College of Art and Design and Amsterdam's Sandberg Institute as they investigated the relationship between design and trust in a hands-on workshop in the capital on 21 March. The workshop was part of Premsela's International Visitors’ Programme.

Burnham, head of Premsela's Trust Design research project, shared his own findings on the mechanics of trust in the design context. The students then explored their own notions of trust within design. Finally, they devised design approaches to increase consumers' confidence in products.

Work from the workshop will be used in a forthcoming issue of Volume magazine.

The International Visitors' Programme
Premsela's International Visitors' Programme strengthens the international design network and gives rise to exhibitions and lectures abroad on Dutch design. In 2011, we are choosing groups of guests working in particular fields. Their visits will focus on sustainability in fashion, activism and design, and agriculture and design.

Recent visitors have included Ousseynou Wade of Senegal, Deyan Sudjic of the United Kingdom, Monika Mikušová and Judita Csáderová of Slovakia, Naoko Aono of Japan, and a delegation from India and China.

Check back often for news of upcoming guests.
