By the end of the last century, Dutch design was a household word among the style-minded around the world. It might sound like a straightforward term for our national design culture. But in fact, Dutch design is an international movement.
The travelling exhibition of Dutch design, fashion and architecture opened in Beijing during the city’s design week. The show, which sheds light on the sharing process that characterises “Dutch design”, runs through 3 October.

We held a second symposium on copying in design during Beijing Design Week after the successful first edition in Berlin. The Chinese meeting took place on 27 September at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art.

Premsela Public Prize
The premier Dutch design competition takes place this year for the 11th time. Between November and February, we'll be helping to coordinate the Premsela Public Prize and a series of meetings for professionals and laypeople.

The four-year programme Dutch Design Fashion and Architecture aims to boost the Netherlands’ creative industries' position abroad, particularly in China, India and Germany. Its activities include communication, network-building and research.
The designers Jurgen Bey and Naoto Fukusawa discussed the social value of their profession in Tokyo in 2009 at the first Premsela Forum outside Europe. The Premsela Forums foster relevant discussions about design and fashion in the Netherlands and around the world.
The International Herald Tribune design critic Alice Rawsthorn assessed the state of contemporary design in advance of the 2009 Rotterdam Design Prize ceremony.
