Curatorial Cooking

Through 2009, Platform21, founded by ING Real Estate and Premsela in 2006, functioned as a test lab for a planned new Amsterdam design museum. The centre investigated alternative ways of staging design exhibitions in the belief that people learn by doing. To honour the success of Platform21’s projects, Premsela, the Platform21 team, ArtEZ Press and d'jonge Hond have published Curatorial Cooking: The Design Practice of Platform21.

The book looks back on Platform21’s best projects, offering an exclusive view of what worked and what didn’t and encouraging readers to try out projects featured in events like Platform21 = Repairing, Platform21 = Hacking IKEA and Me and My Character. Curatorial Cooking also contains a poetic visual report by the artist Koen Hauser and new project ideas by Aart van Bezooyen, Arne Hendriks, Cynthia Hathaway, Dewi Pinatih, Dinie Besems, Erik Wong, Guy Keulemans, Heleen Klopper, Hybrid Space Lab, Maite Abella Grau, Marco Bevolo, Nancy Nowacek, Nox Architects, Robert Stadler, Sang-kyu Kim, Scott Burnham, Sergio Davilla, Shane Waltener, Ted Noten, Van Bergen Kolpa Architecten and Yuri Suzuki.
